The White-Tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) is an extremely popular hunting subject in Maryland.

The species is recognizable from its … white tail .. or more specifically the white coloring on the underside of its tail. The species is extremely popular across the state and can be found in many forests, parks and wildlife management areas.

Most wildlife areas in Maryland double as hunting regions in the fall and winter months. The hunting season usually runs from early September through January.

Deer are pretty common in rural areas in Maryland, but also can move into residential places in search of food. They are also big fans of running out on to the interstate and getting wacked by motorists.
